Gaborone South Sub – Value Center CSR Project
On the 29th April 2022, Gaborone South Sub - Value Centre donated school uniform to a student in need at Mmokolodi Primary School. The handing over event was attended by representatives from Mmokolodi kgotla, school head, PTA member, and teachers.
Representing BotswanaPost were Gaborone South CSR Committee Chair Ms. Tseleng Masala, VCGM Mr. Bogatsu, VCM Gaborone South, VCM Kweneng, Business Support Manager, Branch Manager Commerce Park Ms. Tebogo Mmatli, Marketing Officer Tebogo Bogacu and VC South Admin Ms. Lone Maleke.
Mmokolodi Primary School was established in 2009 with 99 students, over the years the school pupils grew to 315. The primary school caters for the students in the region as far as Tsolamosese and Mogoditshane, these students commute 16km by foot daily from home to school. There is a list of students who have been identified with this need in the area, however the social worker had only one candidate who is under government care. The hope is that the donation from BotswanaPost makes a difference in the student’s life, as BotswanaPost we believe this donation will encourage the student to do best in their academics.
Despite these challenges, the pass rate for the school is very impressive, in 2020 they attained 82% and in 2021, 97% position 2 in the Region and position 1 in the sub region. Their set target for this year 2022 is 100% and they are hopeful that they will meet the target through the engagement of the PTA and the assistance they received from BotswanaPost as it motivates the teachers and students to perform better.
The student was identified by the PTA together with the headmaster as he was top at the list. He received a full set of school uniform (tracksuit, 4 pairs of shoes and socks, 2 trousers, shirts, PE clothing and schoolbag) together with snack and toiletry hampers.
