Demonstrating its contribution to a greener planet BotswanaPost had an onsite solar powered live Post during its exhibition at this years World Post Day commemorations held in Selebi Phikwe which was in line with this year’s theme, Post for Planet. The company also used the opportunity to launch their 4th commemorative stamp issue dubbed Bridges of Botswana – Kazungula and Mohembo.

In his address during the commemorations, BotswanaPost Chief Executive Officer Mr Cornelius Ramatlhakwane emphasized the role the company is playing towards a greener - GreenPost and energy conservations, ‘’where sustainability matters are concerned we have measures in place to drive climate change, we have an ongoing solar energy installation for GreenPost initiative with Pandamatenga completed,  and more sites identified for installation such as Dukwi, Tsabong, Pota, Seronga and Sebina’’, explained Ramatlhakwane.

When officially opening the commemorations, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Communications, Knowledge and Technology Professor Nelson Torto urged all postal and courier service providers to make their products and services as environmentally friendly as possible within the limits imposed by technologies and resources.

 

Anchored by its new three-year (3) strategy that will run until the year 2025, BotswanaPost intends to deliver sustainable innovative business growth through people excellence and a commitment to exceptional customer experience.

Other activities that marked the event included a panel discussion where various stakeholders shared challenges and solutions facing the Postal sector. BotswanaPost represented by Chief of Staff Mr. Thabo Mzwinila noted that the challenges faced by the Post are due to the ongoing sluggish global economy and competition from various sectors, however a huge growth opportunity has been identified in e-commerce and the e-gov space as indicated by the vehicle licence renewal service. “We are currently rolling out a multi-channel expansion, of our products and services which are availed physically across all our Post Offices and Kiosks.  This rollout is done digitally through our platforms PosoApp, Poso Online, PosoMoney, Virtual Teller Machine (VTM) “, explained Mzwinila.
