Standardisation of the Clearing Process
Dear Valued Customer,
We would like to inform you of the implementation of the end-to-end clearing process regarding all incoming mail and parcels as facilitated together with the Botswana Unified Revenue Services (BURS).
It has always been a pre-requisite for all imports, including incoming mail, to have a commercial invoice to allow for the swift clearing process. If a commercial invoice cannot be provided, you are requested to produce proof of payment for your incoming postal items.
The requirement is mandatory for all dutiable incoming mail items that include small packets containing goods, Registered mail containing goods, Express Mail Services (EMS), and courier items purchased through e-commerce platforms or sent as gifts.
We therefore urge you to always request a commercial invoice when making online orders/shopping to help us deliver mail to you on time, to your satisfaction.
