Dukwi and Sebina Post Office Official Opening
BotswanaPost in collaboration with Botswana Communications Regulatory Authority
(BOCRA) will be launching two (2) Post Offices in Sebina on the 20 th June 2023 and Dukwi
21 st June 2023 as part of the Designated Postal Operator’s commitment to its obligation
of providing communities with premium Postal Services. These include Postal, Logistics,
Financial, Agency services and Communications. BOCRA, through the Universal Access
and Service Fund (UASF/Fund), provided financial support to the development of these
properties in furtherance of its universal access mandate. The gesture further supports
the Post’s strategic objectives of prioritizing the creation and preservation of its
property values through refurbishment and building of new post offices nationwide. The
launches, that are scheduled to start at 0900 hours respectively, will be officiated by
the Minister of Communications, Knowledge and Technology – Honorable Thulagano
Merafe Segokgo.
The Post Offices will offer the communities of Sebina and Dukwi access and convenience
to services tailored to their individual and business needs. The Sebina Post Office
upgrade and the first ever Dukwi Post Office reflect BotswanaPost’s strategic
commitment to improving its service points across the country to enhance customer and
staff experiences whilst improving property value.
The two developments include the expansion of the circulation bureau (CB), the banking
hall, offices, the installation of new air conditioning, and security enhancements to
accommodate current business needs. “Our commitment to the communities across the
country drives our business operations and as such we are indebted to BOCRA for coming
on board to aid in our quest to reach everyone.” BotswanaPost Chief Executive Officer,
Mr. Cornelius Ramatlhakwane.
As part of BotswanaPost’s efforts towards local empowerment, the tenders were
awarded to locals from the regions with encouragement to engage expertise and
resources obtained from Sebina and Dukwi in partnership with local authorities.
Speaking on BOCRA’s role, the UASF Board Chairman, Mr. Itumeleng Batsalelwang
highlighted that BOCRA, through the Fund, has a mandate to facilitate the provision of
safe, reliable, efficient and affordable communications services throughout Botswana.
